Junior shortstop Sydney Jackson has become a steady and dependable anchor for the Fayetteville State University softball team. A native of Cameron, North Carolina, Jackson stands 5’5” and bats and throws right-handed, bringing quick instincts, athletic versatility, and a strong competitive drive to the heart of the Broncos’ infield.
Jackson is majoring in Nursing, a field she chose because of her passion for helping others and her interest in healthcare. With a long-standing dream of making a positive difference in children’s lives, she plans to pursue a career as a Pediatric Nurse after graduation—beginning her journey by building strong clinical skills and providing patient-centered care. Her academic path reflects the same dedication and compassion she brings to the field.
Athletics have always played a major role in Jackson’s life, and her work ethic was shaped early on. In one year of high school, she competed in four different sports—volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis—showcasing her versatility and love for competition. She credits her father as her greatest inspiration. His encouragement, especially during moments when she felt like giving up, pushed her to grow into a stronger, more confident athlete.
At FSU, Jackson’s best experiences have come from building lifelong friendships and embracing new experiences that have shaped her personal and athletic development. Her teammates have become a central part of her journey, offering support, motivation, and a sense of family on and off the field.
On gameday, Sydney prepares by eating a good breakfast and getting herself into the right mindset—balancing focus, calm, and determination before taking the field wearing jersey No. 7.
