FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University student-athletes continued their sustained run of academic excellence with another impressive semester in Spring 2026, reinforcing a multi-year trend of success in the classroom.
The Broncos posted a 3.33 overall departmental GPA for the semester, marking yet another term above the 3.0 benchmark and maintaining the standard established in recent years.
Individually, 147 of FSU's 250 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher, while 100 student-athletes achieved a 3.5 GPA or better. Leading the way were 36 Broncos who recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA, highlighting the program's continued commitment to elite academic performance.
The Spring 2026 results build on a strong academic trajectory for Fayetteville State Athletics. During the Fall 2025 semester, 171 student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher, with a department GPA of 3.33. That followed a record-breaking Spring 2025 semester, when Broncos posted an all-time high 3.42 GPA, the highest mark in more than a decade.
Over the past several years, Fayetteville State has consistently raised the bar academically. Since Fall 2024, the department has maintained GPAs above 3.30 while increasing the number of high-achieving student-athletes, including steady growth in those earning 3.5+ and perfect 4.0 marks.
"Our student-athletes continue to set the standard for excellence at Fayetteville State," said Director of Athletics Anthony Bennett. "What they are accomplishing in the classroom reflects their discipline, commitment, and the strong support system we have in place. We are proud of their ability to balance the demands of competition while excelling academically, and this success speaks to the culture we continue to build within Broncos Athletics."
Several teams delivered standout performances during the Spring 2026 semester, led by women's cross country with a 3.78 GPA and men's cross country at 3.71. Bowling also continued its tradition of academic success with a 3.58 GPA.
Additional team GPAs include:
