Fayetteville State Volleyball Captures CIAA Regular Season Championship, Earns No. 1 Seed in Conference Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville State women's volleyball team has officially claimed the 2026 CIAA Regular Season Championship after securing the No. 1 seed for the upcoming 2026 CIAA Volleyball Championship, the conference announced Thursday evening. The Broncos finished atop a highly competitive league race that ended in a three-way tie with Virginia State University and Livingstone College. Through the conference's established tie-breaking procedures, defending CIAA Champs Fayetteville State emerged as the regular-season champion and top seed.

The championship marks another significant milestone for Head Coach Chynna Hunt and a Broncos squad that consistently demonstrated resilience, balance, and championship-caliber play throughout the season.
"To be crowned CIAA Regular Season Champions is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our student-athletes," said Hunt. "This team has continued to respond to every challenge, and we're proud of what we've accomplished. However, our focus now shifts to the conference tournament and the opportunity that lies ahead."

The Broncos navigated one of the most competitive conference races in recent memory, finishing tied atop the standings with Virginia State and Livingstone. Fayetteville State earned the No. 1 seed by holding tiebreaker advantages over both institutions through head-to-head set differential and total points scored. The Broncos split season series with both programs and ultimately secured the regular-season crown after outscoring Livingstone by 10 points in their two meetings and finishing ahead of Virginia State in sets won versus sets lost.

Throughout the 2026 campaign, Fayetteville State established itself as one of the CIAA's most complete teams.

The Broncos' success has been fueled by a balanced roster featuring veteran leadership, emerging talent, and a relentless defensive effort that helped Fayetteville State remain among the league's most dangerous teams from the opening serve of the season through the final week of conference competition.

As the No. 1 seed, Fayetteville State will open tournament action against No. 8 seed Bluefield State University on Monday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. inside the Rocky Mount Event Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
