CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fayetteville State volleyball setter
Giovanna Teixeira has been named the CIAA Setter of the Week following a strong week directing the Broncos' offense.
Teixeira totaled 184 assists across 28 sets, averaging 6.57 assists per set, while helping Fayetteville State post a 5-2 record during the week. The junior setter also contributed 74 digs, 13 service aces, 14 kills and four total blocks.
Teixeira delivered several standout performances during the CIAA Round-Up. She recorded a week-high 44 assists against Bowie State and dished out 36 assists with 19 digs and three aces against Virginia State. Against Elizabeth City State, she finished with 28 assists, 15 digs and four kills, helping the Broncos earn a straight-set victory.
Her versatility was also on display against Lincoln (Pa.), where she recorded 19 assists and four service aces in another 3-0 Fayetteville State win. She opened the week with 13 assists and three aces in a sweep of Claflin before adding 31 assists in a five-set victory over Shaw.
Teixeira and the Broncos return to action today, Thursday, Oct. 8, traveling to Charlotte, N.C., to face Johnson C. Smith at 6 p.m.
