Defending CIAA Champion Fayetteville State Announces 2026–27 Men’s Basketball Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville State University will defend its CIAA men's basketball championship with a 27-game regular-season schedule featuring 13 home contests at Felton J. Capel Arena, 13 away games and one neutral-site matchup.

Head coach Devin Hoehn enters his second season after guiding the Broncos to a 23–7 record and the program's third CIAA tournament title. FSU defeated Bluefield State 71–68 in the 2026 championship game and advanced to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional.

The Broncos open Nov. 9 at Concord at 7 p.m., beginning five games away from home. FSU faces West Virginia State Nov. 13 and Glenville State Nov. 14 at the Earl Lloyd Classic in Institute, W.Va., before visiting Elizabeth City State Nov. 19 and Shaw Nov. 21

FSU's home opener is Nov. 24 against USC Aiken at 6 p.m., followed by UNC Pembroke Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. The Broncos host Virginia Union Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Virginia State Dec. 12 at 4 p.m.

The slate includes home-and-home meetings with all 11 CIAA opponents. Nine home games fall after New Year's, beginning with Winston-Salem State Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. Three-game homestands follow Jan. 21–28 and Feb. 6–13.

FSU will look to build on last season's 10–0 home record. The Broncos also won 17 consecutive games from January through the CIAA championship before their season ended in the NCAA tournament.

The championship rematches with Bluefield State are Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Bluefield, W.Va., and Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. in Fayetteville.

FSU plays four of its final five regular-season games at home, closing against Livingstone Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

The Broncos then return to Baltimore for the CIAA Basketball Tournament, scheduled for Feb. 23–27, 2027, at CFG Bank Arena, as they pursue a second consecutive conference tournament championship.
