Baltimore, MD – FSU Women's basketball is set to play Virginia State in the semifinal round of the Food Lion CIAA Basketball Tournament tomorrow, March 1. Game time begins at 6:00 pm followed by the men's game at 8:00 pm.

CIAA Tournament History vs Virginia State
- FSU and VSU played their first tournament game against each other in a consolation game in 1975, where FSU won 60-56.
- In 1979, FSU and VSU faced off in the final round of the CIAA Tournament, where FSU won 63-61.
- In 2002, FSU fell short to VSU in the semi-final round 52-57.
- In 2010, FSU and VSU met in the semi-final round for the first time in 8 years, where FSU won 66-61. They went on to win the CIAA Championship 66-50 against Bowie State.
- The Broncos have not met the Trojans in a CIAA Tournament since the quarterfinal round in 2013, where the Broncos won 60-46.
About the Broncos
The Broncos (25-2 Overall, 17-1 Conference) won their matchup against Virginia State earlier this season, on Dec. 16, 78-69. The Broncos were led by Morghan Graham with 20 points and 14 rebounds,
Aniylah Bryant with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals, and
Keayna McLaughlin, who added 13 points and nine rebounds.
In this year's CIAA Tournament, the Broncos have played one game in the quarterfinal round against Bluefield State. They kept Bluefield State (15-13 overall) to just 20 percent shooting from deep in a 5-for-25 performance on the way to a 59-45 win against the Big Blues at CFG Bank Arena Wednesday.
Aniylah Bryant led the Broncos (25-2 overall) with 25 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Ashara Hayes tacked on two points and 11 rebounds off the bench and
Keayna McLaughlin chipped in as well with seven points and two steals.
About Virginia State
The Trojans faced off against Johnson C. Smith in a 51-42 win yesterday, Feb. 29, in the quarterfinals.
Team leaders included Mihjae Hayes with 21 points, four rebounds, four steals, and four assists. Amesha Miller followed with 14 points and two steals.
