Fayetteville State Triumphs in Thrilling Four-Set Battle Against Livingstone

Box Score SALISBURY, NC -- Fayetteville State's volleyball team showcased strong leadership and impressive performances in their recent match against Livingstone improving their record to 11-3 overall and 7-3 in the CIAA, while Livingstone's record now stands at 6-9 overall and 1-7 in the conference. Chiara Vittoni led the team with 28 assists and contributed 5 kills, while Symone Morris was a key offensive player with 12 kills and 16 digs. Jourdan Page stood out with 19 kills and 15 digs, making significant contributions to the team's success. Additionally, A'Lexus Everett and Christina Pratcher provided solid support with 5 and 4 kills respectively, and both players were instrumental in blocking, with Pratcher recording 3 total blocks.

In a thrilling first set, the Broncos edged out Livingstone with a score of 28-26. The set was marked by intense back-and-forth action, with both teams exchanging leads multiple times. Livingstone started strong, taking an early 3-0 lead. Fayetteville State quickly responded, tying the score at 3-3. As the set progressed, both teams traded points, with Livingstone maintaining a slight edge at 18-15. However, Fayetteville State tied the game at 22-22. The final moments of the set saw multiple ties, but Fayetteville State ultimately clinched the set 28-26 with a decisive kill by Jourdan Page, assisted by Chiara Vittoni.

The second set was equally competitive, with Livingstone narrowly defeating Fayetteville State 25-23. Livingstone initially took a 4-2 lead, but Fayetteville State responded, tying the game at 7-7. The teams continued to trade points, with Livingstone pulling ahead 16-14. Fayetteville State managed to tie the game again at 22-22, but Livingstone secured the set with a strong finish.

In the third set, Fayetteville State dominated Livingstone with a decisive 25-13 victory. The set began with Fayetteville State taking an early lead, capitalizing on attack errors by Livingstone. They extended their lead to 10-5 and continued to build momentum. Despite a brief rally by Livingstone, Fayetteville State maintained control, closing the set 25-13.

The fourth set saw the Broncos securing a 25-19 victory over Livingstone. The set began with both teams exchanging points, but Fayetteville State gradually pulled ahead. Livingstone managed to keep the score close, tying the game at 13-13. However, Fayetteville State responded with scoring runs and maintained their lead, ultimately winning the set and the match.

The Broncos will head to Petersburg, Virginia to compete in the CIAA Round-up on October 26-27th. On Saturday, they will play Virginia State (2:00 PM) and Bluefield State (6:00 PM.
