SALISBURY, NC --Tyler Foster collected a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, but the Fayetteville State men's basketball team fell to the Livingstone Blue Bears 59-54 on the road Thursday.
In addition to Foster's double-double, the Broncos (10-9 Overall, 5-4 CIAA, 2-1 Division) were led by Caleb Simmons, who put up 15 points, six rebounds and two steals, and by Sean Tony Hauser, who added nine points.
Simmons pulled down four offensive rebounds to pace the Fayetteville State offense which grabbed 13 boards and turned them into 10 second-chance points.
Fayetteville State's defense held Livingstone to only 36.5 percent shooting from the field, including 25 percent from beyond the arc.
The Blue Bears (7-7 Overall, 5-5 CIAA, 2-2 Division) were led by Nathan Montaque with 13 points and 8 rebounds and teammate Khyree Temple who added 12 points and 9 rebounds.
How It Happened
After falling behind 20-11, Fayetteville State went on an 8-0 run with 11:04 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 20-19. Livingstone answered back and added to its lead, leaving the Broncos down 30-27 entering halftime.
Livingstone kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 35-27 advantage before Fayetteville State went on a 9-0 run to seize a 36-35 lead with 16:27 to go in the contest. Livingstone re-asserted control, outscoring the Broncos 24-18 the rest of the way to hand Fayetteville State the 59-54 loss. Fayetteville State took care of business in the paint, recording 16 of its 27 points in the lane.
