Paige Rockwell was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowler and Rookie of the Month after a stellar performance at the CIAA Round Up in Fayetteville, NC.
Rockwell finished first overall at the event with the highest average of 211.00 over the six-game span and a total pinfall count of 1,266. A freshman from Dayton, OH, Paige had four 200+ games over the first two days. Her best frames were against Elizabeth City State where she knocked down a 246. She opened the weekend with a 208 against Virginia Union and a 234 versus Bowie State. Against the VUU Panthers on day two, Rockwell scored a 203. Her other two games were 190 and 185.
The CIAA Round Up was held on February 17-19, in Fayetteville, NC. Fayetteville State led the tournament with an undefeated 9-0 event record. The Shaw Bears slide past the defending champions Bowie State to place second with an event record of 7-2. Bowie State went 5-3 as a team with a high baker game of 917 to finish the weekend.
Paige Rockwell finished first overall at the CIAA Event II in Elizabeth City, NC with the highest average of 186.00. Over the 8-game span, Rockwell had a total pinfall count of 4,092 for the weekend. Bowie State's Chalia Gray took the highest average for the North with a 195.25 while Olivia Watts had the highest score of 233. For the Southern Division, Fayetteville State's Cecelia Chafin had the highest average for the Broncos with a 210.0. Brooke Smith from Shaw took the highest game of the weekend totaling 267.
CIAA bowling teams will meet for the CIAA Event III on March 10-12, 2023 in Bowie, MD.
