BOWIE, MD --The Fayetteville State volleyball team lost to the Shaw Bears 3-0 (22-25, 18-25, 12-25) Saturday at AC Jordan Arena in the CIAA Championship Semifinals round.

The tournament loss dropped Fayetteville State to 19-13 and ends the season.

Chiara Vittoni finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Broncos attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .4. FSU got 14 digs from Jordan Johnson to lead them defensively.

"This was a game of errors," added Head Coach Dr. Reeshemah Johnson. "Coming into this game, our whole plan was to minimize our errors and put Shaw into a position where they were gonna make more. That didn't happen and we ended up making far more errors than Shaw. That was pretty much the game. The statistics were pretty much the same except the hitting errors. We could have played a much better game had we minimized our errors."

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos lost set one 25-22 in spite of a solid showing on the attacking side. Fayetteville State put together a .333 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set loss.

SET 2 | Fayetteville State lost the second set 25-18, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Broncos fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.

SET 3 | Shaw finished the sweep with a set-three win. The Broncos lost a tough set 25-12. Fayetteville State trailed by as many as 13 points as Shaw grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was knotted up three times before the Bears took over the lead.
