SALISBURY, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team needed just three sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) to defeat the Livingstone Blue Bears Thursday on the road at New Trent Gym.
The conference victory improved Fayetteville State's record to 8-10 overall and 5-1 in CIAA action while Livingstone dropped to a 1-11 and 1-6 conference standing.
The Broncos offense was paced by A'Lexus Everett, who finished with 12 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .348, and by Chiara Vittoni, who had 10 while hitting .333. FSU got 23 digs from Jordan Johnson to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Broncos jumped out to an early lead, easily winning the first set 25-19. Fayetteville State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Broncos took over the lead. Fayetteville State also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Fayetteville State built on a set-one win by earning a 25-22 victory in set number two. The Broncos took control of the set lead early on at 3-2 and never looked back. Fayetteville State led by as many as six points at 19-13 before finishing off the set, collecting 16 kills in the process. The Fayetteville State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Fayetteville State took set three to earn a victory by sweep. The Broncos won the set 25-23 thanks to a strong performance on the attacking end. Fayetteville State registered a .429 attack percentage with 17 kills in the set win. The Broncos opened up a 14-6 lead in the stanza and coasted to victory from there. The Fayetteville State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
