The Fayetteville State women's basketball program will host Claflin University on Thursday, January 26 in a nationally televised game by HBCU Go TV.
The Broncos (11-6 overall, 7-2 CIAA) will defend the Felton J. Capel Arena and the top spot in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division with its 2-1 record. FSU defeated Winston-Salem State, 65-61, this past Saturday in Winston-Salem, NC. The last time Fayetteville State played in Capel, Livingstone defeated the Broncos 56-48 for its only loss of the division. FSU defeated Johnson C. Smith 70-60 on January 14.
Aniylah Bryant leads the Fayetteville State program with 12.1 points per game, 2.5 steals, and 1.8 assists per game.
Rasheka Simmons follows with eight points a game and 4.7 rebounds.
Imani Elliott has had the hot over the past three games, averaging 16.67 points a game. She scored 23 against Johnson C. Smith and 17 versus Winston-Salem State. For the season, she is averaging 7.8 points and 2.4 assists.
Claflin University (9-8 overall, 3-6 CIAA) enters the game with a 0-3 divisional standing. The Panthers have three players averaging double figures a game. Nya Morris is the lead scorer with 12.8. Lauren Scott is in close proximity with 12.6 points a game and Janell Horton is hitting 10.4.
Despite its record, Claflin has a 9.9 scoring margin and 0.9 rebounding margin over its opponents. Fayetteville State has a +1.8 scoring margin but loses the rebounding margin by 1.6. CU also has the better turnover margin (+1.8) than FSU (+0.8).
