BOWIE, MD (May 6, 2022) - Fayetteville State's Outdoor Track and Field seniors Mya Johnson and Shania Ingram have been named the 2022 CIAA Women's Outdoor Track Athlete and Outdoor Field Athlete of the year at the 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Bowie, Maryland.
Johnson opened the championship weekend with a first-place qualifying time of 14.24 seconds in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries. She also captured first place in the 400-meter prelims with a mark of 1:01.09 seconds. In her junior year, the Greensboro native holds the CIAA best time for the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles with 14.30 and 1:01.19 second times, respectively.
Ingram's honor follows an opening day 3rd place finish in the women's long jump with a 5.53-meter post. She leads the squad as captain and the conference as a top three performer in the high jump. Her first-place finish at the Adidas Trojan Challenge in Mount Olive of 1.70 meters is her career-best which tied for eighth-best in Division II and second in the Atlantic Region.
