FSU Track Takes Second at UMO Trojan Relays

Mount Olive, NC ( April 16, 2022) - Fayetteville State women's track and field team finished second in the Trojan Relays behind the host University of Mount Olive. The Broncos captured 94 points which included nine top-three finishes and the top podium in three events.

Teanna Bell, Queen Burnett, Mya Johnson, and Bianca Belfon made up the 4x400 relay squad that seized first place over Meredith College with a time of 4:11.98 seconds.

Burnett also captured first place in the 200-meter-dash cruising past the finish line in 24.88 seconds. Her run time of 12.04 seconds earned her second-place finish in the 100-meter dash.

Lead leg Bell grasped first place in the 400-meter dash with a 57.69-second finish. Closely behind, McQueen posted 1:01.06 seconds to capture fourth place.

Relay squad anchor Bianca Belfon captured third-place finishes in both the triple jump and long jump. Belfon posted a hop-skip and jump of 11.17 meters in the triple jump event and landed at 5.16 meters in the long jump pit.

Micah Bernard posted a second-place finish in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. She completed the 100-meter hurdle finals with a 15.50 second run time. Bernard ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.83 seconds.

Mercy Chemutai and Brenda Cheboi occupied sixth and seventh place in the 1500-meter finals. They closed the race with times of 5:13.75 seconds and 5:15.51 seconds, respectively.

The Broncos dominated the 800-meter race with three women in top-ten slots. Shanae Ingram led from the front posting a second-place finish running 2:22.80 seconds. Sierra Beasley and Brenda Cheboi occupied fourth (2:27.64 seconds) and sixth place (2:29.21 seconds), respectively.

In the field events, freshman Kyra Webb grasped fifth place in the javelin throw, posting a mark of 33.60 meters. Marking 41.01 meters, Webb also completed the discus throw event with a fourth-place finish.
