Raleigh, NC -- Fayetteville State University will enter the 2022 CIAA Men's Basketball Tournament with the overall Number 1 Seed after defeating Saint Augustine's 67-51 in their Emory Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC. The Broncos have the best conference record of 13-3 after Winston-Salem State (12-4) loss to Livingstone 99-98 in overtime. FSU defeated Virginia Union (13-3) 53-45 in January to secure any tie-breaker scenarios.
Zion Cousins led the Broncos (18-8 overall and 13-3 in the CIAA) with 13 points and six rebounds in the regular-season finale.

Cress Worthy scored 11 points each. DJ Myers missed a double-double by one rebound (nine).
Darian Dixon finished with ten points.
Fayetteville State led by as many as 29 (53-24) with 14:49 left in the second half. The Broncos led 42-18 at the half.
Saint Augustine's (6-20 overall, 4-12 CIAA) was led by Sean Tony Hauser's 16 points. The Falcons shot 32.4% (22-68) from the floor while the Broncos were 46.9% (23-49). FSU made 60% (15-25) of its field goals in the first half along with 6-of-10 (60%) in three-pointers.
The CIAA Tournament Bracket will be released on Sunday. As the No. 1 Seed, Fayetteville State will receive a BYE in the first round.
