Broncos end regular season with 3-set sweep over Winston-Salem State

FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) to knock off the Winston-Salem State Rams Monday at home at Felton J Capel Arena.

With the win, the Broncos end the regular season on an eight-game winning streak and go to 15-9 overall and 14-2 in CIAA action.

Casandra Watson finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Broncos offense. On the defensive end, FSU got 11 digs from Jordan Johnson along with six blocks from Xiamana Spikes.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos opened up an early one set to none lead, winning the first set 25-20. Fayetteville State grabbed the advantage for good at 16-15 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Broncos took over in the second half of the stanza.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Fayetteville State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-18 victory in set number two. The Broncos led from the opening point on in the set to earn the victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as an 11 point lead at 23-12 before closing out the set.

SET 3 | Fayetteville State closed the match in a 3-0 sweep after taking the third set. The Broncos took the set 25-22 thanks to a strong showing on the attacking side. Fayetteville State put together a .333 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set win. The Broncos rallied from down five at 10-5 to grab the win. Fayetteville State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Winston-Salem attacks in the stanza.
