ORANGEBURG, S.C. --The Fayetteville State volleyball team took care of business in four sets (27-25, 23-25, 25-11, 25-18, 25-18) to beat the Claflin Panthers Thursday on the road at Tullis Arena.
The conference victory improved Fayetteville State's record to 12-9 overall, 11-2 in CIAA play, and a perfect 7-0 in the Southern Division. Claflin, who falls to 11-7 overall and 5-7 in the conference ranks third in the division with a 3-3 record.
The Broncos were led by a double-double from Casandra Watson, who registered 16 kills and 10 digs on the day. Kailyn Williams added 19 kills and Bailey Robinson put down nine to help the offense. On the defensive end, Jordan Johnson chipped in for with 25 digs to go with six blocks from Anjola Thomas.

SET 1 | The Broncos grabbed control of the set-one lead at 6-5 and never trailed to win 27-25. Fayetteville State led by six points at 11-5 before closing out the set, totaling 16 kills in the process.
SET 2 | Fayetteville State lost set two 25-23 to even the match 1-1. The Broncos dropped the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Fayetteville State fired back following the second-set loss to grab the third set and a 2-1 lead in the match. The Broncos took control of the set early when the score was 4-3 and never looked back to win 25-11. Fayetteville State ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 14 points, to finish off the set.
SET 4 | Fayetteville State kept the momentum going, finishing off the match with a 25-18 fourth-set victory. The Broncos grabbed control of the set at 4-3 and never looked back. Fayetteville State led by as many as 15 points at 22-7 before closing out the stanza, collecting 15 kills along the way. Fayetteville State got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Claflin attacks in the stanza.
