Fayetteville State Men Dominated Elizabeth City State 69-50

Elizabeth City, NC (December 20, 2021) - Fayetteville State Men's Basketball trampled over Elizabeth City State 69-50 in its final game before the Christmas Holiday break. The Broncos (8-5 overall and 3-0 in the CIAA) led by as many as 26 points with more than nine minutes left in the game to add to its four-game win streak. ECSU is now 7-4 overall, 2-1 in the conference.

Cress Worthy (Gastonia, NC) added 18 points (12 points were from beyond the arc), Jalen Seegars (Greensboro, NC) had a double-double with an identical 18 points and an additional ten rebounds.  Zion Cousins (Washington, DC), the CIAA Defensive Play of the week finished with four blocks and 11 points.  Koraan Clemonts (Weldon, NC) finished with eight assists and six points.

The FSU defense contained the Vikings inside the R. L. Vaughn Center to an even 25 points each half of play. The first half started with an even tempo until Clemonts replied to a three-pointer from ECSU guard Zaccheus Hobbs, with one of his own. That seemingly ignited the Broncos' offense with two more three-pointers and one jumper, leaving the Vikings cold until seconds before the buzzer where Jayden Beloti broke the ice with a couple of points.

A dunk from Seegars, on the opening play after intermission, forced Elizabeth City State to take an immediate timeout. From that point on, FSU seemed to do as it willed. The Broncos went on an 8-0 run for a 52-29 lead at the 15:18 mark and another run (8-3) to reach the largest disparity of the game.

Jayden Beloti led the Vikings' offensive effort with 17 points and eight rebounds, followed by nine points added by Zaccheus Hobbs.

The Broncos travel to Newberry College in Newberry, SC Friday, December 31 for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off versus the Wolves.
