FSU Women Suffer 77-69 Overtime Loss to Benedict

Columbia, SC – It all went down to the wire once again for the Fayetteville State women's basketball program. The Broncos (2-4 overall) lost a 77-69 overtime contest to Benedict College (5-3 overall) in Columbia, South Carolina tonight. Over the weekend, FSU lost a 63-61 overtime non-conference game to Elizabeth City State.
 
Four Broncos scored double-digits in the effort with Mikaela Jones leading the way with 16 points. Morgan Graham added a dozen while Aniylah Bryant and Keayna McLaughlin scored 11 and 10, respectively. London Thompson led the team with 12 rebounds.
 
Both teams played an even first half with the score knotted at 32. Ironically, the two scored the same number of points (32) by the end of regulation for the same score of 62.
 
Fayetteville State had its best performance during the fourth quarter with 12-of-20 made field goals (60%) and 2-of-4 free throws. The Broncos finished the game with a 40.3% percentage in field goals (29-of-72) and 10-of-20 free throws.
 
Benedict opened the extra quarter with a 9-3 run to set the score at 73-67 with less than 30 seconds left in the game. The Broncos would only score two free throws to end out the game.
 
Ay'Anna Bey led the way for Benedict with a game-high 20 points. Keondra Archie had a double-double of 14 points and 16 rebounds.
 
The Tigers shot 37.1 % from the floor, making 26-of-70 field goals, and went to the charity stripe 26 times where they made 17 of them for 65.4%.
 
Fayetteville State will host Morris College in Capel Arena on Saturday (December 4th) at 2 pm.
