Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville State Broncos (7-1 overall, 6-0 CIAA) secured its fourth consecutive berth into the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Football Championship game with a 34-0 shutout of Livingstone (1-8, 1-5) in the Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium.
Running Back
Donshel Jetton achieved a milestone with the team's first 100-yard game of the season. Jetton rushed 14 times for 107 yards and a touchdown. He scored the first TD of the game with a 34-yard scurry at the first quarter's 3:30 mark.
Stacked with quality running backs, Fayetteville State has been a rushing team by committee. The run-game finished with a total of 134 yards from 36 carries. The passing game was more fluent with 242 yards passing and 3 touchdowns as the offense finished with a total of 376 yards.
Quarterback K'hari Lane completed 16 of his 25 attempts. Lane threw a 10-yard strike to Wide Receiver
Tyeous Sharpe late in the second quarter (1:34) and threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. The first was for 30 yards to Running Back
Johnnie Glaspie and the second, a 63-yard bomber to Receiver
Ke'Monta Stockdale.
In the defensive shutout, defensive back
Jerome Bentley had a pick-six return for 11 yards.
Livingstone finished with a total of 165 yards of total offense. The Blue Bears ran for 81 yards and threw for 84 yards. QB Lazarus Anderson completed 12 of 23 attempts with 1 interception.
Fayetteville State will host Winston-Salem State in its regular-season finale next Saturday at 2 pm in the Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium. The Broncos will honor 20 seniors before the game.
