Fayetteville, NC -- Kalee Vanderhorst racked up a game-high 13 kills in Fayetteville State's sweep of Johnson C. Smith by scores of 25-14, 25-8, and 25-14 in the Felton J. Capel Arena. The Broncos, who improved to 9-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play, finished the match with a total of 41 kills to the Golden Bulls 17.
Jaida Bynum led all with 24 assists and
Casandra Watson finished with 4 aces.
Johnson C. Smith's record dropped to 2-8 on the season and 2-4 in the CIAA.
Fayetteville State opened the match with a 9-3 run and held a 19-10 lead late in the set. Vanderhorst had six kills to lead the way.
The Broncos continued their dominance in the second set with a 14-3 lead and continued to a 25-8 victory. In the final set, FSU held a 15-6 lead after an 8-0 run fueled by three consecutive kills by
Macaiah Honable.
Fayetteville State will travel to Hartsville, South Carolina to take on 1-15 Coker. The Cobras are currently on a 14-match losing streak.
