FSU Broncos Fall 12-0 and 10-1 in Softball Doubleheader to USC Aiken

Fayetteville, N.C. – Fayetteville State University dropped a non-conference twin bill to the University of South Carolina at Aiken at the Lamon Street Park in Fayetteville by the scores of 12-0 and 10-1.
 
Madison Mendoza led the Broncos (0-12 overall) with three hits total and scored her fourth homerun of the season in the second game of the doubleheader. She also suffered both losses in the circle and now has a pitching record of 0-5.
 
In the first game, the Pacers (11-9 overall) scored a run in the first inning off a fielding error and another in the second inning from an RBI. Hannah Price hit a homerun in the fifth inning to give USC Aiken a 4-0 lead over the Broncos. In the sixth inning, the Pacers hit around to score eight runs and end the game with the 12-0 victory. With 33 at bats, USCA had 13 hits and 11 RBIs.
 
Despite not scoring any runs, Fayetteville State collected six hits for which two of them were from Mendoza.
 
The Pacers jumped to an early 4-0 lead after the first inning of the second game. USC Aiken increased its lead to 9-0 after a five-run second inning.
 
Fayetteville State hit the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Mendoza nailed a pitch over the center field fence.
 
The final run of the game came when the Pacers scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning.
 
USC Aiken scored its 10 runs from 8 hits and 4 Bronco errors. Fayetteville State had a total of four hits while the Pacers committed one error.
 
Fayetteville State will open conference play this weekend at the CIAA roundup in Elizabeth City, N.C. The Broncos will play six games in three days against the Northern Division.
