Raleigh, N.C. – Fayetteville State (6-19 overall; 5-13 CIAA) yielded, 86-70, to Saint Augustine's at the Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, N.C. and is now tied with Johnson C. Smith in the CIAA Southern Division with a 4-8 standing.
The Broncos will have the Division's No. 6 seed by way of the head-to-head tie breaker rule over the Golden Bulls. FSU won both contests against JCSU earlier this season. Fayetteville State will face the North's No. 3 Bowie State on Wednesday, February 27
th at 12:10 pm in the Bojangles Coliseum.
A Saint Augustine's 13-3 run late in the first half would give the Falcons a double-digit (41-31) lead that they would take into the locker room at halftime.
Mark Burton and
Raymon Pratt carried the load in the first half with nine points each.
Will Brown scored all of his 14 points in the second half to share some of the load. He also finished with a game-high 7 rebounds. Burton and Pratt finished with 12 points.
Fayetteville State trailed by nine with 5:22 left in the game when Brown completed a three-point play with a tip-in and free throw after a foul.
Saint Augustine's (10-16; 7-11 CIAA; 5-7 Division) Tyre Gathright scored a game-high 26 points and Jalen Gaddy followed with 22.
