Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State Volleyball snaps back to the win column with a 3-1 victory over Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, NC. The Broncos defeated the Golden Bulls 25-13, 25-12, 16-25, and 25-10 to improve its record to 6-5 overall, 6-1 in the CIAA and 4-1 in the Southern Division. Chyna Hunt (Summerville, SC) led the effort with 13 kills and three blocks. FSU finished with a total of 48 kills for the match.
The Golden Bulls fall to 4-8, 3-6, and 2-4.
Fayetteville State lost a divisional (3-1) match to Shaw on Monday night but was back on track in JCSU's Brayboy gymnasium. FSU was out to a quick 12-3 lead in the first set and held a 20-10 lead before a kill and service ace by Hunt put the set at 23-12.
Da'Nesha Miller (Hilton Head Island, SC), who finished with 12 kills total, and
Xiamana Spikes (Raeford, NC) finished off the set with kills of their own.
The Broncos had a 20-8 lead in the second set and a 2-0 advantage with the 25-12 set victory.
Fayetteville State fell behind after an 8-8 tie in the third set and lost momentum for the remainder of it. Johnson C. Smith won it 25-16.
FSU had a series of runs in the fourth set to secure the victory.
Nakia McKinnie (Niceville, FL) finished with 31 assists and 13 digs while
Jasmine Jacinto (San Antonio, TX) had 16 digs.
