Raleigh, N.C. -- Fayetteville State made the best of every opportunity it had in Spaulding Gym with an 82-44 CIAA Southern Division win over Shaw University (5-16 overall, 0-11 CIAA).

The Broncos improve to 12-7 overall, 7-4 in the CIAA and 4-1 in the Division.
Katisha Hyman (Chocowinity, N.C.) led the way with 21 points in three quarters.
Jasmine Covington came off the bench to chip in 15 points.

The Broncos controlled the glass out-rebounding the Bears 61-48 and scored 16 second chance points and 36 points in the paint. FSU forced 13 SU turnovers with steals and scored 22 points off turnovers. The Bears mishandling the ball for a total of 19 times.

It was a complete effort by Fayetteville State as FSU finished with 19 assists. Point guard
Chantel Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) didn't score a point, but she created scoring opportunities for her teammates with five assists. Captain
Yakima Clifton (Durham, N.C.) scored 8 points and dished out 4 dimes passes.

After a 35-20 halftime intermission, the Broncos expanded its lead with a 32-7 third quarter performance.

Fayetteville State held a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored the Bears 23-11 in the second.

Katisha Hyman had the hot hand in the first half with 11 points, while making 50% (5 of 10) of her shots. The Broncos scored a quick eight points off nine turnovers and six points from fast breaks. The FSU bench played most of the half with a contribution of 22 points.
