Fayetteville State Suffers a Long Night in a 68-52 Loss to Bowie State


Fayetteville, N.C. – Fayetteville State men's basketball had a long night in a 68-52 loss to CIAA cross-divisional opponent Bowie State in Capel Arena.
 
The Bulldogs, who improved its overall record to 10-8 and 5-1 in CIAA play, began the game with a 10-3 advantage and led by five (21-16) at the under-10 media timeout. BSU reached its first double digit lead at 33-22 with 3:59 to go and took a comfortable 40-25 advantage into the locker room at halftime.
 
"We came out tonight and got off to a slow start," said Broncos Head Coach Ken Spencer. "We didn't execute offensively the way we needed to execute.  We had progressed a lot on the boards, but then tonight, you get beat by 15+ on the boards, it's going to be a long night for us."

 
Fayetteville State (2-11 overall, 1-5 CIAA) struggled throughout the game on the boards losing a 39-24 advantage to the Bulldogs.
 
Markeise Crutchfield led the Broncos with 14 points and Will Brown was responsible for ten. They both had five rebounds each. Denzell Hosch and Nakia Rivers combined for 16 points in the loss.
 
Rinardo Perry shot a game-high 22 points for Bowie State to go along with Yohance Fleming's 14. Cameron Hayes accounted for 10 points and Saiquan Jamison notched a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Fayetteville State will begin Southern Division action on Saturday, January 19th when the Broncos travel to Charlotte, NC for a 4 pm game against Johnson C. Smith University.
