Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State conquered a number of firsts tonight when the Broncos defeated Saint Augustine's 3-0 in its home-opener in Felton J. Capel Arena. FSU won its first CIAA Southern Division match with set wins of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-6. The Broncos improve to 2-7 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
 
Bojo Jada (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale HS) led the match with 13 kills and Teeya McLean (Tacoma, WA/Clover Park HS) followed with 10 kills and 6 blocks in her first match of the season. Meagan Greene (Orangeburg, SC/Orangeburg-Wilkinson HS) had nine digs and three service aces and Ziyanna Canty (Charlotte, NC/Phillip O. Berry HS) dished out 11 assists for the Broncos.
 
Tonight's match was Fayetteville State's first match since Hurricane Florence blew through the North Carolina region and flooded much of the Fayetteville area.
 
The Saint Augustine's Falcons drops to 3-8 overall 0-2 in the Southern Division.
 
Tia Jones finished with five kills and two blocks for the Falcons. Zoey Isom added nine assists and four service aces and Janina Mayers had four kills and five digs.
 
Fayetteville State will travel to Raleigh, NC on Monday, October 1 for a 6:00 pm match against the Bears of Shaw University.
