Salem, Va. – The Fayetteville State volleyball team was riding a 12-match conference opponent win-streak which includes five consecutive southern division victories and a 3-0 Quarterfinals sweep over Chowan University Tuesday night in Capel Arena.
As the No. 2 Seed of the CIAA Southern Division, the Broncos 2018 season came to a halt in a three-set loss to the CIAA North's No. 1 Seed Virginia State University by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-16.
Prior to the match, CIAA officials announced the Broncos' head coach
Reeshemah Johnson as the 2018 Volleyball Coach of the Year.
All-CIAA Rookie Team honoree
Diamond Holmes led FSU with eight kills from 27 attacks and six digs.
Chynna Hunt, who was named to the All-CIAA First Team, followed with seven kills from 16 attacks. The Broncos had a total of 11 kills in the first set, eight in the second, and 5 in the final.
Virginia State doubled the Broncos performance in the kills category with a total 48. Kennedi Cannon and Jailyn Ivey led the Trojans with 11 kills each and Tiara Ramey finished with ten.

FSU will have two seniors depart from the program with 13 members of the program returning; eight of them are currently freshmen and sophomores.
