Salisbury, NC - The Fayetteville State University women's volleyball team topped Livingstone College in three sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-17) on September 22nd at Trent Gymnasium. FSU improves to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA, while the Lady Blue Bears fall to 8-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
In the Lady Broncos first divisional road match, the team looked impressive and quickly eclipsed their opponent. Livingstone dropped the first and third sets by a score 25-17. FSU only allowed one additional point in the second set with a 25-18 victory.
Sophomore outside hitter Samira Luis (Willemstad, Curacao) led the attack with 10 kills, four solo blocks, and five assists. Freshman hitter Jayde Jacobs (Fayetteville, NC) chipped in six kills and two blocks. Junior setter Leah Mackley (Wilmington, NC) produced 14 assists and five digs.
Fayetteville State will remain on the road for their next contest against Benedict College on Tuesday, September 23rd. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Columbia, SC.
