Jan. 9, 2014

Final Stats

LINCOLN, PA - Despite jumping out to a second straight double-digit second-half lead, the Fayetteville State men's basketball team dropped a second straight game, falling to The Lincoln (PA) University, 74-69 on Thursday night.

Tyrrel Tate had 27 points, Anthony Shelton scored 10 and Juwan Addison had 10 assists.

But on this night, Lincoln (10-3 overall, 2-2 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) was too much.

A 12-0 run turned a 57-50 deficit into the Lions' first second-half lead of the game. FSU (9-5, 2-2) responded with the next seven points to retake the lead, but Lincoln took a 66-65 edge and didn't trail the rest of the way.

Lincoln's lead was 71-69 with 1:24 to play, and FSU didn't find the scoreboard again.

The Broncos actually outshot their opponent. FSU was 26-of-53 (49.1 percent) from the field, had 38 points in the paint and 31 points off the bench. Lincoln shot 25-of-57 (43.9 percent), had 28 points in the paint and scored 33 points off the bench.

The ultimate difference may have been the 26-16 edge Lincoln had on points off turnovers. FSU outrebounded the Lions, 38-30. Tate, Louis Craft and Marquette Hill each had six rebounds. Seven Broncos had two rebounds apiece.

FSU continues on its three-game road trip on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. against Virginia Union.
