SALISBURY, N.C. - Nikita Cheadle had 10 kills and six digs as Fayetteville State remained unbeaten in CIAA Southern Division play after a straight-set victory over Livingstone on Friday evening.
The Lady Broncos (10-6, 7-2, 3-0), who have won seven of their last nine matches, shook off a sluggish start to prevail 27-25, 25-20 and 25-18.
In a balanced effort, Octavia Wynn added nine kills while Joi Emanuel and LaToya Harvin had six kills apiece. JaMisha Jordan led all players with 27 assists to go with seven digs. Decausha McLean also had seven digs for Fayetteville State, which was led by Wynn's 13 digs.
The Lady Broncos, who entered this week's play ranked fifth in the country in service aces per set after leading the nation in that category a year ago, added 11 more service aces against the Lady Blue Bears (5-6, 4-4, 1-1), with Emanuel leading the way with four aces while Alea Jones added three.
Phylicia Egbuna led Livingstone with nine kills.
Fayetteville State travels to Hartsville, S.C., on Saturday to play Lenoir-Rhyne and Coker College in a tri-match before returning home for a pivotal divisional matchup with St. Augustine's at 6 p.m. on Monday.
