Final Stats

MT. OLIVE, N.C. - Joi Emanuel of the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos' volleyball team was named to the Mt. Olive Invitational All-Tournament team following play over the weekend.

While Fayetteville State was unable to come away with a victory at the four-match round-robin tournament, the Lady Broncos were in virtually every set of every match. Emanuel (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) was a big reason why.

Emanuel enjoyed two matches in which she tallied nine kills and nine blocks, and added four digs in a four-set loss to North Greenville.

Several of the matches could've gone either way for the Lady Broncos (3-6, 1-0), who opened the season two weeks ago by splitting four games at a tournament at Johnson C. Smith before beating the Lady Golden Bulls in a CIAA conference match.

Mount Olive prevailed 23-25, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-21 in a tightly contested match on the tournament's first day on Friday. Fayetteville State's Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) had a match-high 16 kills while LaToya Harvin (Fr., Bell Glade, Fla.) added 10 kills, seven blocks and five digs. Setter JaMisha Jordan (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) led all players with 38 assists.

Lander beat Fayetteville State in straight sets later in the day, winning 25-17, 25-13 and 25-15 as Octavia Wynn (Jr., Hope Mills, N.C.) led the Lady Broncos with 11 kills and Decausha McLean (So., Laurinburg, N.C.) chalked up a match-high 15 digs.

Fayetteville State nearly knocked off Elizabeth City State on Saturday before falling to the Lady Vikings 25-18, 29-27, 22-25 and 25-23. Wynn added 15 kills to Emanuel's big game while McLean had 13 digs and Jordan had 30 assists. Harvin added seven kills.

North Greenville clipped the Lady Broncos 25-21, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-17 in the final match of the tournament. FSU's Wynn had 12 kills while McLean had 12 digs and Alea Jones So., Charlotte, N.C.) chipped in seven digs. Jordan added 36 assists and nine digs.

Lander won the tournament with an unbeaten 4-0 record. North Greenville was the runner-up with a 3-1 mark.

Fayetteville State welcomes UNC Pembroke for its home opener at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Felton J. Capel Arena.
