RALEIGH, N.C. - The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos again showed why they have been the class of the CIAA's Southern Division after dismantling Shaw in straight sets in volleyball over the weekend.
Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) and LaToya Harvin (Fr., Bell Glade, Fla.) had 10 kills apiece as the Lady Broncos romped to a 25-9, 25-16, 25-16 victory over the Lady Bears on Saturday in Raleigh.
JaMisha Jordan (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) added a match-high 37 assists and seven digs while Joi Emanuel (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) had six kills and four service aces for Fayetteville State (13-10, 9-2), which remained unbeaten in the Southern Division at 5-0.
Nikita Cheadle (So., Hope Mills, N.C.) chipped in nine kills, nine digs and three aces while Octavia Wynn (Jr., Hope Mills, N.C.) also had nine kills for a Lady Broncos team that has won 10 of its last 13 matches.
Fayetteville State also had a chance to view how it matched up with one of the elite teams in the country, Wingate. The Terriers, ranked 16th in the nation in Division II, needed to be at the top of their game to win in straight sets by the scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-23.
Wynn and Nwokolo led the Lady Broncos with six kills apiece while Jordan had 20 assists and four service aces. Cheadle had five kills and eight digs.
Grace Krauser led undefeated Wingate(14-0) with 16 kills.
Fayetteville State returns to action at 6 p.m. on Thursday with a home match against Livingstone.
