RALEIGH, N.C. - The Fayetteville State Lady Broncos kept their CIAA Southern Division volleyball championship hopes alive after a 3-1 victory over St. Augustine's on the road on Monday night.

The Lady Broncos (16-12, 11-3), who have won two straight matches after dropping back-to-back matches for the first time in a month, came into the match tied atop the division standings with rival Winston-Salem State. The two teams have split their regular season meetings.

On Monday night, the Lady Broncos were in clear control for much of the match, prevailing by the scores of 25-21, 25-17, 15-25 and 25-20 to remain in the title hunt.

JaMisha Jordan (So., Fayetteville, N.C.) had a match-high 42 assists to go with six digs and three service aces. Joi Emanuel (Jr., Charlotte, N.C.) had an astounding seven service aces, a season-high for the Lady Broncos, who rank among the nation's best in aces per set. Fayetteville State finished with a total of 13 aces on Monday night.

Octavia Wynn (Jr., Hope Mills, N.C.) and LaToya Harvin (Fr., Bell Glade, Fla.) had a team-high 14 kills apiece while Ifeyinwa Nwokolo (Jr., Greensboro, N.C.) and Nikita Cheadle (Fr., Hope Mills, N.C.) each added eight kills. Cheadle had a team-high 16 digs.

Kathryn Tokarski led St. Augustine's with 11 kills.

Fayetteville State hosts Shaw on Wednesday and Johnson C. Smith on Friday. Both matches begin at 6 p.m.
