Fayetteville State Continues Win Streak at Final Event

The Fayetteville State bowling team finished 5-0 on the second day of the final CIAA Western Division tournament on Saturday. In two days of action, the Broncos are 10-0. FSU is 50-2 in the CIAA this season after averaging 1000.2 total pins over 10 games between Friday and Saturday. As a team, the Broncos knocked over 1,000 or more pins in seven of their 10 games.

Akira Turner, Jessica Styers and Clarisse Bible all averaged 200 or better for the Broncos. Turner led the tournament, averaging a 222.3, Bible was second with a 205.25 and Styers was third with a 200.3. Jessica Collins averaged a 197.25 for FSU, Jamie Donnelly a 187.2 and Kelly Wakerhauser a 182.1. Johnson C. Smith's Sasha Thornhill was the next highest bowler, averaging a 179.8.

Shaw ranks second nailing 7,512 total pins for an average of 751.2.

The tournament concludes on Sunday as teams compete in Baker play. Matches are set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
