Final Stats

RALEIGH - Fayetteville State stood toe-to-toe with Western Division Champion St. Augustine's for the entire first half at Emery gym on Thursday.

But a huge run that spanned the final minutes of the first half and opening minutes of the second half helped give the Falcons a 76-56 win over FSU (7-18, 4-15 CIAA, 2-8 Western Division).

The Broncos, playing without the CIAA's leading scorer Jamel Carpenter, led by as much as four and were in control for most of the first half.

However, with FSU leading 30-26, SAC started what would end as a 32-9 run that put the game out of reach.

Ariel Robinson and Jarmel Baxter both had 11 points to lead FSU. Junior forward Ben Davis added 10 points and eight rebounds while senior Davon Hood registered seven points and six rebounds.

FSU shot 42.9 percent from the field in the first half and made nearly as many field goals (12) as it did in its loss to Shaw on Wednesday.

Chris Jordan had a game-high 29 points for SAC (22-4, 16-3, 8-1) and was the only Falcons player in double figures.

FSU will close the regular season on Saturday, inside Capel Arena, against Eastern Division-rival Virginia State. Seniors Larry Ross, Davon Hood and Jason Thompson will be honored. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
