LADY BRONCOS EARN SPOT IN SEMIFINALS

HAMPTON, VA - Fayetteville State won its second game in CIAA Tournament pool play 3-0 over Livingstone in a match played Friday afternoon at the Boo Williams Sportsplex.

The Lady Broncos, now 2-0 in the quarterfinal round and assured of a spot in Saturday's CIAA Semifinals, defeated Livingstone 25-17, 25-15, and 25-13. The Lady Blue Bears drop to 0-2 in pool play. Both teams have one more game in the quarterfinal round robin.

Octavia Wynn had eight kills to lead FSU, while Joi Emanuel had seven kills and a .636 attack percentage. Wynn also led the team with six service aces. Achari Mainor paced the Lady Broncos with 17 assists. JaMisha Jordan had eight digs for FSU.

Lashaundra Ferguson led the Lady Blue Bears with 10 kills, while Shannon Allen topped the team with 15 assists. Ariel Moton had seven digs for Livingstone.

The two teams will continue in pool play later Friday. Livingstone returns to play at 5 p.m. with a match against Virginia State. Fayetteville State will close out the evening with a match at 7 p.m. against the Northern Division's No. 1 seed, Elizabeth City State, which is also 2-0. The Lady Broncos, who now have a chance to move to their bracket's No. 1 seed with a victory, lost their regular season match to ECSU 3-1 in September.
