Hampton, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Fayetteville State's Chelsea Jeter the Player of the Week for the week ending January 18, 2009. Jeter had consecutive double-double games this past week while the Lady Broncos are on a three-game win streak. Chelsea scored 24 points and grabbed 21 rebounds for the week. She also contributed seven assists and seven steals. Although she is a starter, Jeter averaged 28.5 minutes for both games and shot 50% in field goals and free throws.
Jeter's best game of the week was on Saturday night in the 102-67 thumping of Elizabeth City State. She scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and one block.
She was recently recognized during the FSU verses Elizabeth City State televised game as the Lowe's Senior Class Award recipient. Lowe's presents the award in recognition of a student-athlete known for their sportsmanship, team-building efforts and their honor among coaches, teammates, professors and school officials. She has a grade point average above a 3.2. Jeter was honored in the Bahamas as the 2008 Shootout DII MVP. During the summer months, she works with special needs kids at the Kennedy Kreiger School.
Chelsea Jeter is a junior on the playing court and a senior in the classroom. The Baltimore, Maryland native is majoring in Psychology. She attended Milford Mills Academy High School.
