FAYETTEVILLE STATE TAKES THE EASY VICTORY OVER ECSU 102-67 Chelsea Jeter has third double-double game of the season

Fayetteville, NC- Fayetteville State tried everything it could to score 100 points in its game versus Lincoln University but time had expired. In tonight's contest against Elizabeth City State (2-12, 0-7 CIAA), the Lady Broncos had plenty of time as they scored the 100th point with 53 seconds remaining in the game. Fayetteville State 10-5, 6-3 CIAA) is on a three game winning streak which includes a 102-67 massacre over the Lady Vikings. FSU went on a 10-0 run in the first half with 12:14 on the clock to pull away from Elizabeth City State. Chelsea Jeter (Baltimore, MD) scored 13 points and had 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the season. The Lady Broncos went up by as much as 22 and led at the half 49-29.

The game started out evenly matched until Danielle Russell (Wilmington, NC) scored back to back baskets with 12:08 remaining to spark the run. L'Oreal Price (Raleigh, NC) led at the half with ten points and was followed by Russell, who had nine.

The Lady Broncos didn't let up in the second half as the lead was increased to 37. FSU displayed a team effort as every player on the roster scored. Five players scored in double figures for Fayetteville State. Price led the team with 14 points while Russell finished with 11. Jeter was joined by Mercedes Humphries (Greensboro, NC) who also finished with 13 points. Erica Gilley (Lexington, NC) had a dozen points for the game. The FSU bench contributed 46 points.

Fayetteville State defensively forced 45 Lady Viking turnovers with 25 steals. The Lady Broncos made 50% (39 of 78) of their field goals compared to the Vikings 35.4% (23 of 64).

Briana Glover put up 18 points for Elizabeth City State while her teammates Ashley Anderson and Kearah Jeffreys added 14 points each.

The Lady Broncos host Shaw University on Thursday January 22 at 5:30 pm in Capel Arena.
