Charlotte, NC - The Lady Broncos turned the heat on early in Brayboy Gymnasium. The up tempo game resulted in FSU rout of Johnson C. Smith 83-68. Chelsea Jeter (Baltimore, MD) helped control the pace with 19 points and nine rebounds. Erica Gilley (Lexington, NC), who averaged 14 points for the 2-1 week, finished with second highest points of 18. The Lady Broncos (8-5, 4-3 CIAA) led at intermission 47-32.

Fayetteville State jumped into an early brawl with the Lady Golden Bulls with an 8-0 run that put FSU up 10-5 with 15:18 on the clock. Chelsea Jeter, who led the half with 11 points, sparked another run at 10:41 that put the Lady Broncos up by 14 with 6:02 left. The 13-4 run lasted four and a half minutes and made the score 34-20.

In the mist of the second half at the 10:30 mark, Demetria Bell established a JCSU 12-0 run that closed that gap for the Lady Golden Bulls. The 4:20 span pulled JCSU within four with 6:10 to go. Bell led JCSU with a total of 18 points.

The Lady Broncos reinstated the press and the fast tempo to force a total of 18 turnovers in the game and convert them into 21 points. Fayetteville State finished the game shooting 46.9% from the floor and 61.8% from the free throw line. FSU made 21 of its 34 attempts from the line.

Johnson C. Smith (7-6, 3-2 CIAA) made 28 of 72 shot attempts for 38.9%. The Lady Golden Bulls made 12 of 20 free throws (60%). Wendy Stywalt and Tyra Breaux finished with ten points each.

Fayetteville State will host St. Paul's College on Tuesday, January 13 in Capel Arena at 5:30 pm.
