Florence, SC - The Fayetteville State University women's volleyball team was winless in the Swamp Fox Volleyball Invitational hosted by Francis Marion University on September 19th-20th. The losses over the weekend drop the Lady Broncos to 10-11 in the overall standings; however FSU remains 7-1 in the CIAA.

In the first match of the day, the Lady Broncos dropped their match to Franklin Pierce University 3-2 (25-27, 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 15-10¬). FSU won the first set 25-23, before the Ravens rebounded to take the second, 25-22. Fayetteville State then took a 2-1 lead with a 25-22 win in the third set. However, Franklin Pierce rallied to win the match by taking the fourth and fifth sets, 25-15 and 15-10, respectively.

The Lady Jaguars of Augusta State University swept FSU 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-15) in the second match-up of day one.

The Lady Broncos did not fare much better on day two of the tournament. Montreat College downed Fayetteville State 3-1 (25-17, 22-25, 25-14, 25-15) in their opening match on Saturday. The hosting Francis Marion Patriots blew past FSU 3-0 (25-8, 25-17, 25-18).

In the match against Francis Marion, sophomore outside Samantha Meeks paced the Lady Broncos with six kills, while sophomore setter Achari Mainor dished out 19 assists. Junior right-side hitter Cailee Huffman recorded 12 digs.

Fayetteville State returns to conference action on Monday, September 22nd against Livingstone College. The match is scheduled to began at 6:00 pm from the Felton J. Capel Arena.
