FSU FOOTBALL SEASON IS AROUND THE CORNER

Fayetteville, NC - The 2008 Fayetteville State Football season is getting underway in the month of August. The Broncos have organized their calendar and feel they will be prepared for their opposition this upcoming season.

On Thursday, August 7th, the Broncos will hold their first official practice at 3:00 pm. This will be one of the first opportunities for the coaching staff to examine their personnel and fine-tune their conditioning. Practice will be elevated a gear on Monday, August 11th, when the Broncos conduct their first practice in full pads.

Practice will be open to the public on Saturday, August 16th at 9:00 am with the first blue/white inter-squad scrimmage. The scrimmage will take place on the athletic field at Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium. The public is encouraged to come out and show their support. August 16th will also mark the first day incoming freshmen and returning students can begin moving back on campus.

The Broncos will continue their preparation for the upcoming season, leading up to the Broncos Media Day on Saturday, August 23rd. Local media will have their chance to take photos of the 2008 Fayetteville State Football and Volleyball teams in game-day uniforms from 9am - 10am.

At noon, Chancellor Dr. James A. Anderson and Director of Athletics, Dr. Edward McLean will have welcoming ceremonies for all incoming and returning student-athletes, their families and the welcomed community. The newly appointed head cross country coach, Deron Norwood, will be introduced along with his 2008 team. Coach Elorine Hill will also be present to introduce her 2008 volleyball team that will be defending their 2007 CIAA Championship this season.

Introductions for the 2008 football squad and coaching staff are scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm prior to a mock scrimmage and participate in a meet and greet session following the conclusion of the scrimmage.

These events take place before the season opener on Sunday, August 31st against the Eagles of North Carolina Central University. The Broncos will travel to Durham, NC to do battle with NCCU in their "Labor Day Classic" on the gridiron of O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium at 4:00 pm.
