PETERSBURG, VA (July 24, 2008) - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its Pre-season All-CIAA Football Team and Predicted Order of Finish at the Football Press Conference and Luncheon, this afternoon. This year's press conference featured the 2008 season theme, "Conference of the Quarterbacks." Fayetteville State University was predicted to finish second in the CIAA West behind the reigning Champions Shaw University.
Despite defeating Shaw 24-16 last season during Homecoming, Fayetteville State finished with a 4-4 conference and a 4-6 overall record. The Broncos will return 38 letter-winners with six offensive starters and seven defensive starters. The 2008 season will kick-off on August 31 at NC Central.
The 2008 Pre-season All-CIAA Team will comprise of two Broncos, Terrell Allen and Donte' Wise. Senior Terrell Allen (LB, 6-0, 225lbs, Wilmington, NC) led the defense last season with 72 tackles with an average of eight per game. He ranked sixth within the CIAA. Senior Donte' Wise (DB, 5-9, 17lbs, Fayetteville, NC) was also selected to the pre-season team. Wise finished last season with three interceptions and five pass breakups. He had ten punt returns for 100 yards and seven kick-off returns for 152 yards. One of his KO returns was for 61 yards.
Several of the returning quarterbacks for this season were in attendance and held interviews with the media. Senior Quarterback Bryan Hardy (6-2, 200, Vanceboro, NC) was on hand for interviews and participated in a photo shoot.
