FSU FOOTBALL LENDS HELPING HAND

June 23, 2008

Cary, NC - Some of the student-athletes from the Fayetteville State University Football Program volunteered their time and energy at the 2008 Mount Zion Church Tailgate Party on Friday, June 21st.

Junior linebacker Joel Kuvuna, sophomore linebacker Fred Sidberry, and sophomore offensive linemen Dillon Kestner and Paul Murphy put forth efforts to ensure the tailgate party would be an enjoyable event for the church members and the community.

Coach David Bowser, FSU football recruitment coordinator and member of Mount Zion Church, said the tailgate party was a success. "The members really appreciated the students coming out to support and volunteer, especially seeing them in their game-day jerseys." "Whether these guys know it or not, there were a lot of little eyes (referring to the children in attendance) looking at them in amazement. It was good to see our guys giving back and representing the university well."

The FSU student-athletes served as chaperones for the children's activities, runners for the food-tasting contest, and participated in the kickball game which took place that afternoon.
