Fayetteville, NC - The Fayetteville State University Athletics Department announced a revision to the 2008 Bronco football schedule on Thursday afternoon. The 10-game slate has been altered by the addition of Lincoln University (Pa.) as the Broncos' opponent on September 13th instead of Catawba College.
The contest will be played away at Avon Grove High School located eight miles from Lincoln's campus in West Grove, PA. The game time is 1 pm.
Lincoln University is adding a varsity football team and looking to reclassify their athletic program to NCAA Division II from NCAA Division III and is currently seeking re-admission into the CIAA.
Lincoln last played football in 1960. According to school records, Lincoln, which began playing football in 1894, has compiled a 163-166-27 record. Lincoln won the CIAA Conference championship in 1918, 1919 and 1924. Lincoln was one of the original founding members of the CIAA in 1912 along with Howard, Virginia Union, Hampton and Shaw.
Due to the change in the schedule, the Broncos will now play six away games and four games at home (Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium). For more information, please contact the FSU Ticket Office at (910) 672-1724.
