Final Stats
Laurinburg, NC -- St. Andrews Presbyterian College prevailed against the Lady Broncos Volleyball Team 3-2 (28-30, 25-17, 25-20, 13-25, 16-14) in a non-conference match on Monday night in Harris Court.
In the first set, FSU won a back-and-forth battle to take the lead early in the match. St. Andrews was unable to convert on four set points and they dropped the set, 30-28. SAPC won the next two sets and had a hitting percentage of .368 in the second and third sets.
The Broncos evened the match with a lopsided 25-13 win the fourth. FSU served for the match in the decisive fifth set leading 14-13 but St. Andrews survived by winning the final three points.
Sophomore middle blocker Chekimbrell Jefferson led the Lady Broncos with a team-high 15 kills, 12 digs, and six blocks. Junior right side hitter Cailee Huffman had a match-high 22 digs, while sophomore setter Achari Mainor tallied 42 assists.
Freshman libero Erica Davis led the Lady Knights defense with a team-high 17 digs. Heather Bolwerk added 18 assists and eight digs to her nine kills. Sophomore Janlique Vazquez chipped in with eight digs. Junior Jaime Hayes provided a team-high 37 assists.
The Lady Broncos let their fourth straight match slip away and fall to 12-15 in the standings. SAPC improves to 6-11 overall.
Fayetteville State will host St. Augustine's College in conference volleyball action on Wednesday, October 8th. The match is set to begin at 6:00 pm from the Felton J. Capel Arena.
