JEFFERSON RECEIVES CIAA WEEKLY HONOR...AGAIN

Hampton, VA - On Tuesday, the conference office announced Fayetteville State University junior middle blocker Chekimbrell Jefferson as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player of the Week for the week ending October 21st.

Jefferson, a native of Laurel Hill, NC, racked up 25 kills with a .583 hitting percentage and four digs in the two matches this week for the Lady Broncos. Her best performance was against Virginia State University, where she had 17 kills, four digs, and a .654 hitting percentage.

Jefferson, the reigning CIAA Player of the Year, is currently ranked first among the conference leaders in hitting percentage (.356) and in kills, averaging 3.46 kills per set. This is the third consecutive week Jefferson has earned Player of the Week honors (more than any other player in the conference this season).


As a team, the Lady Broncos are ranked first in the conference in digs, averaging 12.66 per set. The team is also on a five-match winning streak.

Fayetteville State is 18-15 in the overall standings and 12-1 in the CIAA. The Lady Broncos will travel to Charlotte, NC to face Johnson C. Smith University in conference volleyball action on Tuesday, October 30th. The match is set to begin at 6:00 pm from Brayboy Gymnasium.
