BRONCOS SQUEEZE OUT WIN AGAINST LIVINGSTONE

Salisbury, NC - The Broncos snap their losing skid with a 69-67 road win against the Livingstone College Blue Bears inside Trent Gymnasium Tuesday evening.

Fayetteville State had four players produce double digit point totals, including sophomore forward Larry Ross 's team-high 16 points. Freshman Derek Holmes had 15 points and six rebounds, junior guard Andy Gebru contributed with 14 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, while senior guard Phillippe Harris scored 10 points.

The Broncos nearly matched their season-high field goal percentage (55.3%) shooting 52.9 percent from the field against the Blue Bears. FSU shot well from the free throw line, sinking 11 out of 14 for a 78.6 free throw percentage compared to Livingstone who made 7 out of 12 for 58.3 percent.

There were 10 lead changes in this contest. Ross scored a lay-up in the post off an assist from Holmes that gave FSU a one-point lead with 5:53 remaining in the game. Despite the close final, the Broncos would never relinquish the lead from that moment.

Forward Mario Satterthwaite came off the bench and led the Blue Bears in scoring with 17 points on 8-for-13 shooting. The Broncos get their first victory after losing their previous three match-ups. FSU improves to 7-10 and 3-6 in the CIAA.

Fayetteville State will return to the court Thursday, January 24th against Shaw University in Raleigh, NC. The two teams are scheduled to begin play at 7:30pm.
