Leticia Dickson surpassed her career-high, scoring 31 points to lift FSU past Elizabeth City State

Elizabeth City, NC- Senior guard Leticia Dickson scores a career-high 31 points to guide the Lady Broncos to a 75-73 win over Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon inside the R.L. Vaughan Center.

Most of the attention coming into the contest was placed on ECSU's Celeste Trahan, and she didn't disappoint. The All-American forward produced 32 points, 16 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals. Fans of the Lady Vikings were also in attention to celebrate Trahan's 100th career game, but fortunately for the Lady Broncos not with a victory.

The score in this match-up stayed close throughout. There were 12 ties and the game wasn't decided until the final seconds. With 2:26 left to play, Dickson hit a jumper to put FSU up 74-71. Trahan responded with a lay-up, which made the score 74-73.

The Lady Broncos choked up at the free throw line, only sinking one out of eight attempts from the line in the closing seconds. Junior guard Jamara McMillan hit the single free throw with 17 seconds remaining that accounted for the 75-73 final score.

Before time would expire, the Lady Vikings' Courtney Scott attempted a jump shot that was rejected sophomore guard Shacovia Sheppard to secure the win for Fayetteville State.

Dickson scored a team-high 31 points, while freshman center Saybah Sammy finished with 10 points and nine rebounds. With the win the Lady Broncos improve to 9-7 overall and 6-2 in the CIAA. This is the second consecutive FSU road victory.

Fayetteville State prepares for travel again, this time heading to Salisbury, NC to face the Lady Blue Bears of Livingstone College. The contest will take place Tuesday, January 22nd at 5:30 pm.
