JEFFERSON AND MEEKS RECEIVE CIAA WEEKLY HONORS

Hampton, VA - Fayetteville State University freshmen Chekimbrell Jefferson and Amanda Meeks were named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Player and Rookie of the week respectively. Jefferson had an outstanding week, averaging 4.1 kills, 1.7 digs and eight total blocks in the 15 games she participated in during the week. The freshman from Laurel Hill, NC turned in two double-doubles including an eye-popping 23 kills in the match against Columbia College at the Pfeiffer University Volleyball Invitational. Her performance for the week earned her CIAA Player of the Week honors. Her best game was against Columbia College where she had 23 kills, four service aces, 12 digs, and one block shot.

Jefferson is currently ranked among the conference leaders first in hitting percentage (.509), 10th in blocks per game (0.53) second in kills per game (4.07), 10th in the service ace category, averaging 0.67.

Samantha Meeks, a 5-9, outside hitter from Laurinburg, NC also had an epic week at Pfeiffer University Invitation. The Scotland County High graduate had a 15 game week with 27 kills, four assists, nine service aces and 38 digs. Her best performance came against Columbia College where she finished the match with 10 kills and 15 digs. Meeks also had a double-double for the week.
